A belly cast is a beautiful keepsake made for you to remember your pregnancy for years to come. Parents delight in capturing the amazing changes their body made to grow their baby in a model of their torso. Casts can be painted, hung up on a wall, or displayed as a bowl to honor this transformative time.
Your belly cast will be made in a private studio.
This very special mold takes about an hour to make in a private setting in Nikki’s studio. With calming music and dim lights, you will be pampered as your cast is prepared. I encourage you to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, as creating the plaster cast is a little wet and messy!
Applying the cast takes about 30 minutes, and the entire appointment will take about an hour. Any loved ones you bring along are welcome to help apply the plaster to your belly! The best casts are done while the pregnant parent is standing with bare skin, but it’s possible to modify it so that you can sit down or wear a bra if that feels more comfortable.
Belly casting styles
You can choose to have a cast made of your belly and breasts (my most popular option) or to have just your belly made into a keepsake bowl. After you leave the raw cast will be given a professional finish that will take your raw cast from looking like bandages to a smooth durable surface. The professional finish takes place over several days to make your cast strong, smooth, and beautiful. Your cast will be ready for pickup 2 weeks after your belly casting session.
All the details:
The ideal time to do your belly cast is at 34+ weeks of pregnancy. Professionally finished belly casts cost $150 (white casts in photos below). Your belly cast can be painted a solid color with an optional glaze finish for an additional $50. A simple design with 2-3 colors can be painted on for an additional $100. (See photos below.) I can refer out to a professional painter for more intricate designs. Let’s talk about your options for bellycasting!
